...tired and a little late we arrived in houston!
we try to pack all our things and souveniers and tomorrow go to the airport!
-well be back!
our airplane in vienna lands on sunday at 14.30!

...after a beautiful sunrise at chisos mining motel in terlingua, we jumped right into the car and drive to near http://www.nps.gov/bibe/index.htm -looking for breakfast!

-at the http://foreverlodging.com/lodging.cfm?PropertyKey=73 we found some!- it was 9.57- breakfast closed at 10.00 !!!- but there was enough fine food to eat and we really had a fine brakfast with a fantastic view at the FROZEN nature outside!!!

-today we had about 25°F- yesterday we had 75°F- can u believe that!?- thats texas- the weather can change within hours!!!

with a full belly(potzak, bauch) we also filled our jeep up- and went south to the hot springs at the rio grande!!! http://www.americansouthwest.net/texas/big_bend/hot_springs_trail.html

claudia could not believe people taking BATH right there!-the other thing thats funny- you just look over the rio grande/boarder right into mexico!

-but that was just the beginning!- a few miles later we take the old ore road http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/primitive-dirt-roads.htm north!

this old trail took us about 3 hours- and the jeep could now show what he can do...;-)

it was just amazing but after hours of ruttling and bumping we were glad to reach the north entry and some asphalt again- we decided to drive back to f. stockton- were i am sitting right NOW at 22.09 again- tired but happy- and a little bit sad- because the adventure is over - and we travel back tomorrow bout 9 hours to houston!!

....lets go WEST !!!

-so on thursday we decided to drive WEST - from corpus christi -san antonio to fort stockton!

the drive took about 8 hours- but we had no stress and everything went easy- the intersate nr.10 is nice to drive - u set the cruise control on 70mph and just drive.....

-today we had the most beatiful and warm day (?) about 73° - we had our ICEcream at http://www.dairyqueen.com/ - but before we went to the original http://www.tourtexas.com/fortstockton/ftstockfort.cfm one of the forts of the famous san- antonio -el paso route http://www.over-land.com/elpaso_road.html.

-our next stop was http://www.fortdavis.com/areainfo.html- but claudia was not much intersted in so we went over right to http://www.ci.alpine.tx.us/ -but it was only bout 5.pm so we decided to drive even more south to BIG BEND-

we phoned at a gas station and reserved a room at the http://www.cmcm.cc/big_bend_lodging_001.htm chisos mining comp. motel- were we arive at bout 7.30 and after dining at the funny http://www.lakiva.net/ and i am sitting here right NOW....at 22.20- so we are tired and have to go to sleep now - because tomorrow BIG BEND is waiting - and this will take the whole day..............

...yesterday we drove from SA to corpus christi - about 2hours- on the gulf again...;-)
-today we drove to CC beachside- on the big bridge to the http://www.texasstateaquarium.org/- an unbelievable aquarium with an big scary SHARK , a dolphin show and a stingra pettingzoo.!!! :-()
-it was just amazing!!!!
after the aquarium we were hungry and eat some fine meal at the http://www.pier99restaurant.com/category/about

-after that we walked right to the BIG http://www.usslexington.com/ just around the corner.- an unbelievable big WWII ship- we had only 2 hours and could NOT see the whole ship - cause its that big...:-()
-but what we saw was really amazing- we were right at the commandobridge and also playing on the big 40mm guns..........
even claudia had fun on this thing!
-but after walkin for miles on this big thing-up and down-we went home really tired and ready to sleep...
-ah- and claudia saw her first american engl. bulldog in CC at the beachfront....;-)

...from dragters to buffalos!

...DRAGS NOT DRUGS thats it at this beautiful saturday- sun was shining again-so we decided to drive to the http://www.sanantonioraceway.com/ -were the season starts at 2nd of january-unbelievable...yes!

-fantastic cars and sounds everywhere!!

at 2pm we drove north to http://www.wildliferanchtexas.com/ were we get in CONTACT with some exotic animals like buffalos etc.

last station was the petting zoo - of course...;-)- so claudia (yes me too) was happy again...

-so this was our last day at SA- we stayed there more days then expected but theres lot to see in this interesting city!

san antonio good bye- will miss you..!

...we drive east of SA to the http://www.exoticanimalworld.com/index.asp were we saw our first snapping turtle live!!-oh my god -just be aware of this animal!!!

-they had some really exoting animals and we enjoyed it much!

-after that we drove to the german settled city of http://www.newbraunfels.com/ were we drove with the http://www.newbraunfels.us/html/landa_railroad.html -the man at the ticketsale were german and we had some nice talkin in deutsch...;-)

newbraunfels is a really nice city- and after a "little" meal we enjoyed the christmas lights at the beautiful old buildings!

-yes thats ME with the cowboyhat..!! :-)

...as the weather was getting even warmer (!)- must be around 20°cel. we decided to go to the http://www.seaworld.com/sanantonio/default.aspx -so after a little shopping we were a little bit hungry and we went to http://www.rudys.com/ to eat some fine turkey...;-)

and have a fine picnic .

-seaworld was expensive (bout 50$ p. person) BUT it was GREAT!!!-and worth every dollar!

-the experience with the dolphins was unforgatable- also the rides and at least the fantastic christmas show with the killerwales.!!!

-ah -yes it was 31st of december so we had a little firework there too.........

-happy new year to everybody!!!

...after drivin to san antonio in heavy rain we reached our http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ850&propId=850 motel- were we right went into the fitnessroom and indoorpool ;-)

-next day we did some shopping at http://www.shoprivercenter.com/main/index.php the weather was beautiful and warm so we went on to the heart of texas- http://www.thealamo.org/main.html

sanantonio dowtown is really nice- beautiful old buildings we love it!!- we went the beautiful http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/index.asp and then to the old buckhorn saloon with the http://www.rangermuseum.com/

...after thet we were really tired and goin to sleep....

-but sanantonio has a lot more to see- just watch out!!!

...houston zoo, kemah and galveston partII

....so the houston zoo and kemah was also on our list!-but at first we had to drive back to galveston- because this was our last day in houston and we missed some things...

weather was nice but windy- and as claudia is not so much intersted in wartoys she stayed in the car and watched the pinguins and dolphins comin by.....

so at first i looked at the http://www.cavalla.org/ -a WWII submarine..

it was really intersting and i couldnt believe what kind of technique they had in the 40s!!

-i then headed to the seawolf the warship...

after that we were drivin north to the http://www.houstonzoo.org/

the weather was fine again and we saw some intersting things like the KOMODOwaran...

after the zoovisit we were really tired but we decided to drive to

http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/ on the eastside of houston were i "had to" drive with the

http://www.boardwalkbullet.com/...:-() -oh my god!!!!-and ate some fine burgers of course too...

-we enjoyed our last day in houston very much- tired and happy we went to our motel to sleep....

-next episode- san antonio were comin.;-)

...on sunday we dicided to go to galveston- the weather was fine- alittle bit windy-but at some places really arm-like in spring!-we even find some flowers!!

-at 10.00 we were one of the first to make the http://www.galvestonbaywatch.com/ -this was realy fantastic - claudia was really happy to see the dolphins so near!!!

after the boat tour we visited the old sailship http://www.galvestonhistory.org/Texas_Seaport_Museum.asp

-and then -really hungry we went to http://www.galveston.com/fishermanswharf/ restaurant to eat some fine food!!!- not the cheapest- but worth every dollar!!

-then we drove west to the http://www.lsfm.org/ -the museum was fantatic-to s the b17 bomber live was really something special....

-between we had some time to spend on the beach...and to test my texas camping chair the first time...

-oh man what a day........

-more about nasa lter!-since i could not sleep since 3 in the morning(!!)-we were happy to go to breakfast at 6 o clock!!-we have a funny little brekfastroom with our OWN wafflemachine!! ;-) - later we were shopping at http://www.academy.com/ -where we bought some nice stuff- reebok and nike shoes for bout 35 dollars!?-unbelievable!!

-so later we go to the http://www.spacecenter.org/ - there were about thousands of people so we had to waitt bout 1 and a half hour for our special tour...:-/

-BUT after when you see those big rockets you forget about that-amazing!!- after that we were in the nasa shop for also bout an hour...

-after this exhausting day we quickly drove to IHOP - the pancakes were so big we had problems to eat them..;-)- the coffe is about a half liter and costs about 2 euros...!!!

...but even after tons of coffee claudia was so tired she sleped within 5 minutes after comin home to our motel.......

...finaly in houston..

...after makin the securitycontrol a second time (:-/)-this time we got our plane to houston- after an exhausting flight for nearly 14hours- atching about four films and claudia eating 3 meals- we arrived in houston...
waitn for about one hour(!)at the usa visa control - we got to hertz- waitin for another 30min to pick up our brand new jeep laredo(150mls on tach)-we arived our motel at nasa rd.....it was about 80km- :-()-houston is big, yes
typical american style we parked our car right in front of he door..;-)

...christmas surprise...

...my father brought us to the airport on time!(thanks again)-
but weve got FOG in paris so our flight was bout 30min. too late!-
we came 3min. before take off to our airplane-but the didnt let us on board !!!!
:-(- so we had to stay one day in paris!!!!!-cause the next flight was only 24 hours later!!!-
we were really upset and after angry and loud protests and reklamation they(air france) spend us one night in ibis hotel-3meals-and 1200euros in CASH !!!!
-so OK-
after the first schock we spend a beautiful christmas eve on the eifeltower...!!!
